Art of Success

The Aspect Autism in Education conference is designed to provide delegates with practical, innovative and creative ideas to shape successful futures.  The goal is to design and implement a conference which is inclusive, with a wide range of creative program initiatives designed to engage participants and facilitate sharing and networking, not only between educators, but between the autism community and educational sector professionals.

This year, we have introduced the Art of Success program, a showcase of ideas, practices and lived experiences that have led to success for students with autism in the future.

If you have an example of a classroom practice or education initiative that has led to a successful outcome for a student on the autism spectrum we would like to encourage you to share your experience at 2018 AIE conference.

This year the AIE Conference has introduced the Art of Success program.  The aim of the program is to showcase ideas, practices and lived experiences that have led to successful outcomes for students.   The program already features a range of speakers and presentations across the two day event, but we are also hoping to feature a range of video submissions highlighting practices that work!

We are looking for videos illustrating techniques or practices that aim to teach, focus or calm a student on the autism spectrum.  The technique, program or project doesn’t need to be ground breaking and it does matter if it is helping one student or ten – what matters is that it has led to a successful outcome for the people involved.  The more stories and practices we can share, the richer our shared learning experience will be.

Videos can be shot on a standard camera or your phone and submitted here.   We are asking people to keep the videos to under three minutes in length, and should contain a short explanation of what is happening .  We also need to know the name of the school that the project came from or the name of the person who has submitted the video.

Videos need to be submitted by COB on Friday 24 August 2018.

The Art of Success program is embedded throughout the entire conference and includes:

  • Keynote speakers with lived experience of autism
  • Presentations from those on the spectrum, and those who support them which demonstrate innovation, creativity and success
  • An Autism education hackathon
  • Video submissions from all over the country, demonstrating success in classroom and life

If you would like to submit a video to be included in this program, please submit via this drop box link.

Autism is a lifelong developmental condition that affects, among other things, the way an individual relates to his or her environment and their interaction with other people.
